I am a CFO who got tired of watching good work go unwitnessed.

Businesses do not usually fail because the work is bad. They struggle because nobody outside the room ever finds out how good it was.

I spend my days inside other people's numbers. What came in, what actually stayed, and the story those two numbers tell about the months behind them and what the business can expect on the road ahead of them. And over and over I would sit across from an owner who was doing genuinely excellent work, who had a folder of grateful emails, who could name six customers off the top of their head who adored them, and whose website said exactly the same forgettable things as every competitor in their city.

The praise existed. It was just evaporating. A kind word on a phone call, gone by lunchtime. A generous text, buried by Thursday. A thank you card on the counter that nobody outside the shop would ever read.

Why a CFO built a review app

Because this is a profit problem wearing a marketing costume.

We live in a season where trust is the scarcest commodity on the market. Customers want to believe somebody. Most of the time nothing in front of them tells them who.

When a business cannot show proof, it competes on price. It discounts to win work it should have won on trust. It spends on advertising to say things a customer would have said better and for free. I have watched that pattern quietly cost owners more money than anything I could have found by combing through their books.

So Praise Patch is not really about testimonials. It is about the cheapest asset a business owns and almost never harvests. You already did the work. Somebody was already delighted. Keeping the evidence should not require a marketing department.

What I believe about growing a business

I write and speak about something I call Financial Gardening. Every number tells a story. Every business is a garden. A harvest comes from patient cultivating, faithful endurance, and the wisdom to know where to prune.

That is not a decoration on top of the accounting. It is how the accounting actually behaves. Nothing worth having grows in ninety days. The habits that make a business last are small, repeated, and rarely exciting.

Because a business succeeds or fails on the internal infrastructure nobody ever sees. Clean records. Systems that hold under pressure. Small disciplines kept without applause. A tree lives or dies on a root system no one photographs, and a company is no different. The work that decides everything happens underground, not in the orchard hanging heavy with fruit ready for the picking.

Praise Patch is built on exactly that idea. It asks for two minutes a week. Nothing dramatic happens in week one. After a few months you own something you cannot buy, and by the end of a year the same two minutes produces more, because the soil is better than it was.

How I built it

Deliberately small, and deliberately honest.

One link. One screen. Three questions. Ninety seconds. Nothing publishes without your approval, and there is no setting that turns that off. Your logo and your brand colors on every page, because your customer should never have to wonder whose page they landed on.

In celebration of launching it, I set the price at a level every business owner can afford, solopreneurs included. That was a choice, not an accident. I would rather this be in the hands of a thousand small businesses helping them grow than sold to a hundred who had to justify it. I want to help people. That is the whole mission, and it always has been.
